Wow. These chickens have terrific balance systems. Imagine moving about with such head/neck control! If you play tennis, as your arm whips through the stroke your eyes would effortlessly remain on the ball.
It’s worth pointing out that our balance system isn’t just to stop us falling over; it’s intimately and intricately linked to our visual system, enabling us to accurately spy our prey so we can catch tonight’s dinner, whilst avoiding becoming something else’s dinner.
I realise that sounds only visual, but if you watch any programme involving native tribes hunting, they are either on foot or on horseback and as they chase down the prey, they are moving, whilst keeping their eyes glued on dinner. And it’s the balance system’s job to enable this.
After all, it would be hopeless if, whilst driving, your eyes bounced up and down with every bounce in the road.
Yes, it is a bit complicated. But it still is only anatomy!
