Glucosamine and chondroitin are popular supplements taken to help our creaking joints. However, as Dr Clayton points out in the above video, studies show that they don’t work for the majority. Why? Two reasons; synergy and building blocks of joint health. Synergy means ingredients working together for greater effect than the single parts. As mentioned in previous blogs, the best supplements address these facts and cheap ones do not. So to repair and strengthen our joints, the body needs glucosamine to re-line the cartilages (in this case, the lining between the bones, called articular cartilage) and chondroitin forms an important part of the make-up of cartilage. But to actually work, good glucosamine and chondroitin supplements will also contain zinc, selenium, copper and manganese. Take a supplement like this along with a good exercise regimen that properly works the joints, addresses muscle imbalances and old injuries and we won’t be waddling into our old age, but springing at it like a panther.
